A LETTER FROM THE HUNT CHAIRMAN
Listed below are many of the hunts, fishing trips and adventures that will be on the auctions at the SCI Wisconsin Chapter’s 2010 Banquet and Fundraiser. As you read through the trips, please remember that there will still be some changes. I am still working with several outfitters. Some trips may be added. Some may be deleted and several will be modified. Some will change places in the auctions as well.
I have tried to bring a wide variety of trips to this event and have more North American hunts because of the economy. The attendance and prestige of the SCI-WI Banquet are the main reasons we are able to solicit the excellent trips you see here. I hope that you appreciate the generosity of these outfitters and the efforts of the SCI Wisconsin officers, board members and volunteers that put in THOUSANDS of hours to bring this event to you.
Now for business. These outfitters are good! They have been researched. References have been checked. I believe you can count on every outfitter and agent that is represented in this list.
Could there be issues? Of course! No one can forecast weather, game numbers or movement, personality of your outfitter or guide, cranky horses, changes in travel, laws, seasons, etc.
The 3 live auctions have different content. FRIDAY NIGHT is mostly North American with some excellent foreign trips thrown in for flavor. SATURDAY DAY is mostly local and North American or trips promising fun and value. SATURDAY NIGHT IS A SHOWCASE of first class hunts and destinations. Finally the SILENT HUNT AUCTION and the SILENT TAXIDERMY AUCTION bring excellent trips and services that rival offerings anywhere!
What we need now is YOU! We must have healthy attendance and enthusiasm at these auctions or we can’t continue to bring the caliber of trips to our banquet. This goes for every other Chapter Fundraiser in the State as well! PLEASE ATTEND! BRING SOME FRIENDS!

FNV-02 WYOMING ANTELOPE J. W. Kinder of Cowboy Country Outfitters returns for the fourth year with a high success, 2 day, 2X1 hunt for one hunter in 2010. Hunt sprawling private ranches which yield almost 100% success on mature bucks. This may be an ideal hunt for your son or daughter but will test the most highly skilled hunter as well. Pick up and drop off is in Casper. Not included are motel lodging, meals, meat processing or license fees ($286 for adults / $124 for youth 12-18). An SCI WI special allows you to bring up to 3 extra hunters along for only $1,500 each, observers for only $150 or add extra days for $200 each. Ask J. FNV-04 UPPER MICHIGAN CAST AND BLAST COMBO FOR 2 Greg Johnson of Bear Mountain Outfitters has offered a 4 day 3 night fully guided combo for 2 sportsmen from May 15th through September 15th, 2010. Hunt a management class Russian Boar at the Bear Mountain Preserve. Then take a 1 day cruise on Lake Superior for trophy Lake Trout. Included is guide service, excellent lodging, meals, field dressing, photo package and lots of fun for both. Not included is taxidermy, butchering, alcohol and tips. FNV-06 TEXAS EXOTICS Jim Fejes of Recordbuck Ranch returns with a 3 day, 2X1 hunt for 1 hunter and one observer in 2010 or 2011 including the daily fee AND trophy fees for YOUR CHOICE of an Aoudad up to 29”, a Texas Dall Sheep or a Blackbuck Antelope PLUS a hog and a Catalina goat. Recordbuck Ranch is a large fenced property near San Antonio with an abundant selection of exotics. Included is lodging, meals and even trophy preparation which is not included in many Texas operations. Not included are license ($45) and tips. Take any of the other available species at Jim’s normal rate. Bring other hunters or observers along for only $350 and $175 per day respectively. FNV-07 SOUTH DAKOTA MERRIAM TURKEYS FOR 2 Jim Riley of Detail Company Outfitters has donated a 3 day, 2X1 hunt for 2 hunters in the spring of 2010. Included is access to private ranches near Belvidere, full guiding, cabin lodging and meals. Hunting can be from blinds or spot and stalk. Add a second bird for $200. Not included are transportation to Belvidere, licenses and tips. Extra hunters welcome at $950. FNV-09 SOUTH AFRICAN ELAND OR NYALA OR KUDU AND PLAINS GAME One of our best African outfitters, Daniel du Toit of Kolobe Safaris has returned with a 6 hunting day 1X1 hunt in the Limpopo Province near Kruger National Park for one hunter and one observer in 2010 or 2011. Included are the daily fees AND trophy fees for gemsbok, springbok, blesbok and impala. Extra trophies or days may be added at published rates. Daniel guided Jeff Engel in 2005 on the exhilarating Cape Buffalo hunt you saw on Engels Great Outdoors and Jeff rates this operation top shelf! FNV-11 SASKATCHEWAN BLACK BEAR Here’s the one everyone wants! Gordon Simpson of Simpson’s Sportsman’s Lodge has once again made a donation of a 5 ½ day hunt for one hunter in the spring or fall of 2010. Gordy has many color phases of bears and hunting can be done with bow, muzzleloader or rifle. Stay in comfortable cabins or trailers. Meals are provided. Transportation is by vehicles, ATV’s and on foot. Spring hunters can go fishing and fall hunters can add moose or waterfowl at Gordy’s published rates. Extra hunters welcome at $2,395. This is an enjoyable, high percentage hunt. If you fly, pickup and drop off is in Saskatoon. If you drive it is in Sunset Service Saskatchewan. FNV-13 ONTARIO FLY IN FISHING Elson Strickland of Due North Outpost Camps returns with a secluded 4 night, self guided retreat for 4 people in the summer of 2010. How much fun can you have with 2 couples or 3 of your buddies? This is a fly in fishing trip including the airplane charter to an exclusive lake with modern fully outfitted cabin equipped with generator, stove, fridge, freezer, hot shower, BBQ, boats, motors, fuel and more. FNV-16 COLORADO ARCHERY ELK, MULE DEER AND BLACK BEAR COMBO Mark Cooley of Colorado Hunting Expeditions brings us a spectacular western US combo. This is a 5 day 2X1 gem for 1 hunter in the fall of 2010 or 2011. Hunt managed private ranches in the San Juan Mountains of SW Colorado from 4X4 vehicles and on foot. You will have a true opportunity to score a screaming bull, a mulie buck and a bruin all in one trip. This adventure is in the KwaZulu Natal province and includes the daily rate AND trophy fees for Nyala, Blue Wildebeest and the hunters choice of Impala or Blesbok – WOW! FNV-21 MANITOBA DUCKS & GEESE Rick and Colleen Liske of Agassiz Waterhen River Lodge & Outfitters return with a 3 day guided hunt for 2 hunters for 2010. This hunt is near Waterhen, about 3 hours NW of Winnipeg. It is from blinds over potholes, sloughs and riverbanks. The donation includes full meals in the main lodge, private cabins with running water and TV, guides, and a lot of shooting. Not included is license, gun permits, cleaning of birds or tips. Rick says geese are normally hunted in the mornings and ducks in the afternoons and evenings. Greater Canadians are more abundant early and more Snows come in later. FNV-25 LOUISIANA AIRBOAT DUCKS FOR 2 Captain Greg Crain of National Wildlife Studios has donated a 2 day fully guided hunt for 2 hunters in the bayous, ponds and lagoons near Chalmette for December of 2010 or January of 2011. In the morning, get to any of the many private blinds on thousands of acres on his 16X8 Air Ranger powered by a Chevrolet 454V-8. Return to the dock by a scenic ride before noon. You will only need low rubber boots as the blinds are usually dry. Greg will supply the decoys, dog, and cleaning although you can bring your own dog if you wish. You will be near the eastern side of New Orleans so just fly there, rent a car and have some fun during the evenings on Bourbon Street or wherever. Bring along up to 2 more hunters for only $600 each. Not included is lodging, meals, license ($125) or transportation to the airboat. That’s 40 total days and 8 trophies! Included is pickup and drop off in Port Elizabeth, service of the full staff, lodging in luxury, modern, rondovals, meals and an open bar. This hunt includes 2 days of guided hunting, bird processing, 3 meals per day, lodge accommodations and even trap shooting. Your dogs are welcome too. FNV-37 MONTANA ELK AND MULE DEER COMBINATION Jack and Karen Hooker of WTR Outfitters LLC have donated a 9 day, 2X1 quest in the Scapegoat Wilderness in western Montana for one hunter in either 2010 or 2011. WTR has hunted this area for over 40 years and their efforts and success are well known. There are 2 camps to choose from too. Ask them which camp is best for the time slot you choose to maximize your chances at a big bull or buck. Remember, Montana’s outfitter sponsored licenses are guaranteed and we will have signed applications at the banquet, so if you win this hunt, YOU WILL GO HUNTING! Their big game combination licenses also guarantee that you will be able to hunt both elk and deer. Ask them about their drop camps too! Extra hunters are welcome at $4,000. FNV-39 WISCONSIN PHEASANTS WITH BOB PETERSON Our favorite pheasant hunt with a twist! Bob Peterson and Tim Zindl have donated this hunt to us for over a decade. This is a one day blast for 25 pheasants and 10 chukar partridge for up to 4 hunters almost anytime during the 2010-2011 season. Bob supplies the chukars and use of his Waukesha County farm. Tim’s Oak Ridge Pheasant Ranch supplies the pheasants. The twist is that Bob can’t cover the ground like he used to so he arranged for several SCI volunteers to bring and handle dogs to help. You can hunt with your own dogs too. For a fun day with friends, family or a great thank you for business clientele, do not pass this one up. SATURDAY DAY VOCAL SDV-01 WISCONSIN PHEASANTS Steve Williams of Wern Valley Sportsmens Club has donated a ½ day, 20 bird pheasant hunt for up to 4 hunters on available dates from March 14th 2010 to March 21, 2011. EXPECT an alligator in the 10 foot range! Hunt at night with an airboat on a huge private marsh with over 10 miles of reservoirs and over 1000 miles of ditches. Hunt days with ATV’s or swamp buggies.
